Cloud engineering, built for scale.

I help organizations design, automate and operate Azure environments that are secure, cost aware and genuinely reliable, with Terraform, DevOps and honest engineering discipline.

“Good cloud engineering isn’t about tools. It’s about understanding the system and building something people can operate with confidence.”

I work with clarity in mind. No jargon walls, no over engineering. Just infrastructure that fits the team, the budget, and the goal.

What I do

Four capabilities. One practice.

Every engagement starts with the system as it actually is, not a reference architecture. Here is where most of the work lives.

01

Cloud Infrastructure

Azure environments designed for reliability and scale, provisioned as code and built to grow with the business.

  • Azure IaaS and PaaS
  • Hub and Spoke Networking
  • Landing Zones
  • Terraform (HCL)
  • Bicep and ARM
  • Entra ID and RBAC
  • Hybrid Connectivity
  • Azure Storage
02

DevOps and Automation

CI/CD pipelines and scripting that turn repeatable work into deployments engineers can trust and audit.

  • Azure DevOps Pipelines
  • GitHub Actions
  • PowerShell Automation
  • GitOps Practices
  • Release Management
  • Secrets and Key Vault
  • Artifact Feeds
  • Testing Gates
03

Monitoring and Optimization

Observability across the stack, with cost and performance tuned deliberately, never left to chance.

  • Azure Monitor
  • Log Analytics
  • Application Insights
  • KQL Analysis
  • SLO and SLA Design
  • Alerting Strategy
  • Cost Optimization
  • Right sizing
04

Governance and Security

Guardrails that let teams move quickly without giving up compliance, identity, or operational safety.

  • Azure Policy
  • Microsoft Defender
  • Zero Trust Networking
  • Intune and Endpoint
  • SCCM
  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Fortinet NSE
  • CCNA Security

Certifications

Backed by verified expertise.

Recognitions across cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, networking, and enterprise systems. Earned, not claimed.

  • MicrosoftAZ-305 Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • MicrosoftAZ-104 Azure Administrator Associate
  • HashiCorpTerraform Associate (003)
  • CiscoCCNA Security (210-260)
  • FortinetNSE Level 1, 2, 3
  • CompTIAA+ (220-901)

How I work

Structured around the system, not a template.

  1. 01Discovery

    Assess and Understand

I review the current cloud footprint, pipelines and priorities. Where things are working, where they aren't, and what the business actually needs next.

  2. 02Design

    Architect and Plan

I map a target architecture with Terraform first IaC, sensible governance, and a delivery plan sized to the team, not a slide deck.

  3. 03Deliver

    Automate and Operate

Landing zones, pipelines and monitoring go in with proper handover. Documented, reviewed, and tuned as the environment matures.

About me

Cloud Infrastructure engineer,

focused on governance and automation.

Ajay Sabu portrait

My path into cloud engineering began with the fundamentals. A bachelor’s in Physics at Union Christian College taught me to break systems down to first principles, and a postgraduate program in Wireless Networking at Lambton College sharpened that thinking around real infrastructure.

Before that, I worked in frontline tech support at Apple, which taught me how to listen to people, diagnose problems quickly, and stay calm under pressure. My actual IT career started with an internship as a Junior IT Consultant, where I got my first real exposure to supporting hybrid environments, a mix of on premises and cloud systems.

From there I joined Hatch as an Azure Administrator, taking ownership of production infrastructure for the Canadian side of a global team and managing it end to end. That role pushed me from identity and endpoint work into deeper platform ownership, modernizing how we managed infrastructure as code, and building automation that turned slow, manual processes into things that ran in minutes instead of hours.

Today I’m a Cloud Solutions Engineer at Extendicare, where I design cloud environments for secure migrations and acquisitions and build the governance that keeps a growing environment secure, well organized, and cost aware. My work has also stretched into newer territory; AI infrastructure, modern data platforms, identity across a mixed set of systems — which tends to be where I land: the newest, least defined problems, before anyone’s figured out how they should work.

Governance and cost control are the parts of the job I keep gravitating toward, and it’s the direction I want to take my career next moving from managing cost as one piece of governance to specializing in FinOps directly.

I care about the fundamentals: clear architecture, honest documentation, and governance that actually holds up. I’m most useful on teams that want to move fast without cutting corners on reliability or cost.
